Edward R. Psenicka Biography

Prior to becoming the Deputy Director of the Second District Office of the State’s Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor, Edward Psenicka spent several years as a principal assistant state's attorney in the storied Appeals Unit of the Office of the DuPage County State’s Attorney. Before that, he proudly served the People of Illinois as a staff attorney at the State's Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor and as an elbow clerk to several Illinois Appellate Court and Supreme Court justices. In between, there was a short and unsatisfying stint in private practice, focusing on commercial and professional insurance coverage litigation. Among other degrees, Mr. Psenicka’s educational background includes a B.A. from Northern Illinois University and a J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law.

A recipient of various awards for his legal, scholarly and creative writing, Mr. Psenicka savors poetry, including the works of Theodore Roethke and Mary Oliver, the short fiction of Amy Hempel and the films of Terrence Malick. He is also an avid barbeque enthusiast. His best days are spent traveling, going to White Sox games and otherwise spending time with his bracingly beautiful wife and their two precocious boys.
