Title: Assistant State's Attorney

Summary:

The Stephenson County State's Attorney's Office is located in Freeport, Illinois. Freeport is in northern Illinois about a 2-hour drive from downtown Chicago or an hour drive to Madison, Wisconsin. It is a town with a low cost of living and great outdoor activities all year round. The State's Attorney's Office has five ASAs who work collaboratively to do excellent work. We have an opening for the position of Assistant State's Attorney due to the planned retirement of our First Assistant this summer. We plan to hire an entry level position and the ideal candidate would be a current law student sitting for the Illinois bar exam this summer and would start work as soon as he or she has fully recovered. Coursework in Evidence, Criminal Procedure and Trial Ad are a plus--but not absolutely necessary for the right candidate.

Description:

The newly hired ASAs would be responsible for managing the prosecution of a criminal caseload and collaborating with local law enforcement agencies. The entry level salary is $45,000.
