Title: Assistant State’s Attorney
1.Uphold the laws, Illinois Constitution and U.S. Constitution. 2.Subpoena witnesses for any motions, bench trials, or any other court hearing within 48 hours of the hearing being set. 3.Conduct any necessary legal research well in advance of any set motion hearing or trial. Review file in advance to determine legal issues, and/or any factual problems. 4.Conduct all work necessary to successfully present the State's case in trials. 5.Contact witnesses in advance of hearing or trial date to ensure court appearance, and to prepare witnesses for their court appearance. 6.Return phone calls to defense attorneys, police, and civilian witnesses within 24 hours, or as directed by office policy. 7.File motions and motions to continue as needed. 8.Complete any other assignments as directed by the supervising Assistant State's Attorney, Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division, the Chief of the Criminal Division, the First Assistant, or the State's Attorney. 9.Other duties as assigned by State's Attorney. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 1.Must have an understanding of the Illinois Criminal and Civil codes as they apply to their assignments. 2.Must understand and follow the Rules of Professional Conduct. 3.Must have the ability to handle high volume court calls. 4.Must establish and maintain professional working relationships with the judiciary and defense bar. 5.Each ASA must have a J.D. and valid Illinois Law License at all times. 6.Must have a valid Illinois driver's license 7.Must have prior prosecution experience 35 hours per week FLSA: X Exempt Non-Exempt
