Title: Assistant State's Attorney


The Marion County State’s Attorney’s Office is currently seeking applicants for an assistant state’s attorney. This is a full-time position in which the attorney will be responsible for prosecuting juvenile delinquency, abuse and neglect, dependency, and truancy petitions. The position also provides the opportunity for involvement and experience in a wide variety of other cases, including felony, misdemeanor, traffic, mental health, and real estate tax. Both entry level and experienced attorneys are encouraged to apply.


DETAILS: Individuals must be licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois or be sitting for the July 2022 bar exam. The attorney can expect to be in court two days per week, with the remaining three days allotted for office preparation and assisting other attorneys with a variety cases. The attorney will be responsible for reviewing investigative reports from both police departments and DCFS to determine the appropriate petitions and motions to be filed and then preparing and prosecuting said matters. It will also be necessary for the attorney to subpoena and meet with witnesses required for the prosecution of said petitions/motions. While experience is always a bonus, entry level attorneys who show both motivation and enthusiasm will be trained.
