Criminal Assistant State’s Attorney – First Chair Felony - Job Summary: The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office is seeking a first chair felony Assistant State’s Attorney to prosecute high profile, serious, felony offenses.


Minimum Qualifications Required Education: Juris Doctor License and Certifications: Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois Experience: 5+ years of felony trial experience Strong desire to be in the courtroom and on trial. Salary: $75,000 to $100,000 - Commensurate with experience Knowledge and Skills Required Knowledge of: • Illinois Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure • Trial advocacy • Excellent oral and written communication skills Skilled in: • Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing • Arguing persuasively before a judge and/or jury • Assimilating facts and drawing sound conclusions • Using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines • Organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines and following up assignments with minimum direction • Preparing well-reasoned and well-researched motions and briefs • Accurately proofreading copy with accompanying knowledge of grammar, punctuation and spelling • Performing data entry using word processing, spreadsheet or database commands and formats material as required Benefits McHenry County offers an excellent benefits package which includes: Medical/Dental/Vision/Accident/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, IMRF Pension Plan, Deferred Compensation Plan through Nationwide Retirement Solutions, Paid Vacation, Sick, Personal Days and Holidays.
