The application process for the federal loan forgiveness program is now available. The Illinois Student Assistance Commission has a dedicated web page, complete with answers to frequently asked questions located at

The deadline is September 30, 2010. It is important that we have as many eligible applicants as possible, despite the relatively small pot of money we are allocated ($188,000 statewide) because it is only by showing the incredible need that the Congress (or State of Illinois eventually through a similar program) will act to raise the appropriated amount. In short, use it or lose it.  The application is located on our Resourses web page in the Management folder.
